Lineup for 7-14-01 Match vs. DC United
In the back, it just makes sense to keep things as is. Fernandez is a rock between the sticks. He's been a menace ever since his arrival in MLS. The backline of Pierce, Heaps and Wright has been solid enough. The only possible change is to switch to a four man backline, but with the putrid DC attack, I'll stick with Fernando's defensive alignment.
In midfield, Caté replaces Andy Williams in the playmaker role. It just makes sense to have your best playmaker as the playmaker. While Caté makes for a more than adequate striker, he is much more dangerous in the withdrawn playmaker role. The defensive midfield of Alvarez and Franchino stays intact for at least another week. Shaker Asad really isn't a defensive mid, so he sits in this alignment. Chrono is allowed another week to prove himself in terms of fitness and effectiveness. I'd insert Allnut sometime during the second half for fresh legs. Cloutier is fast becoming one of the top names on the teamsheet with his consistent play.
Up top, I've put the two Jamaicans together. There has to be some chemistry between Harris and Williams, and we need something to light a fire under Wolde. He's been subpar all season. This is more of a last gasp try than anything. If Wolde can't get anything started by the 60th minute, William Sunsing will take his place.
