Gone but Not Forgotten-Issue 1

Richard Goulooze

Richard Goulooze left the Revolution midway through the 1999 season, due to "family concerns". When he left, he created a large hole in the center of the Revolution defensw which was filled by the arrival of Mauricio Wright this season. His physical presence was sorely missed by a small backline in New England.

When he left MLS on a free transfer, Goulooze signed for NEC Nijmegen, the club which he still plays for. This accommodated his homesick wife and children while allowing Goulooze to continue his playing career at a high level. At this time in his career, he is in and out of the squad. At this time, as most would agree was the norm in New England, Goulooze is sidelined with an ankle injury. NEC is currently 4th in the Dutch Eredivision, boasting top scorer Gorgi Hristov.

Goulooze is gone but not forgotten. He left a decent legacy behind him in New England. He was solid, yet not outstanding. In the Wrongen years, Goulooze showed what was right with this team. He fought hard, and showed decent skill when skill was at a premium.
