Gone, But Not Forgotten
Giuseppe Galderisi

Giuseppe Galderisi was a run of the mill foreign striker during his time in MLS. His career in MLS started off on a high note as he was allocated to the Revolution on February 5th, 1996. He was a former teammate of Revolution defender Alexi Lalas, and expectations were high for Galderisi. Beppe failed to live up to these expectations and was placed on waivers on May 10th. The stats were ugly, but as he was under contract to the league, he was picked by Tampa Bay and had a decent year with the Mutiny. With the Mutiny in 1997, Galderisi was inexplicably named an all-star. Later that year, Beppe was traded back to the Revolution for Chinquino Conde and Sam George. Again, Galderisi failed to show much in a Revolution uniform. He was placed on waivers at the end of the 1997 season, never to be seen again as a Revolution player.
Galderisi is a slight man but had talent during his prime. Unfortunately, those days were not during his MLS career. He relied on guile rather than pure speed. His age had taken away his shooting abilities as well as his speed. Remarkably, Galderisi never tallied a goal for the Revolution. Even luminaries such as Rob Ukrop have at least one goal to their name in the Revolution record books.
It seems like we couldn't get away from Galderisi. In April of 1999, Beppe Galderisi made his triumphant return to Foxboro as an assistant coach to manage Walter Zenga. Let's just say the season and the team went down in flames. Zenga obviously had no management skills while Beppe was a coaching novice. When Zenga is relieved of his coaching and playing duties near the end of the 1999 season, Galderisi hits the door as well. This ended a tumultuous, unsuccessful career with the Revolution.
Giuseppe Galderisi has moved on to bigger and better things than MLS. He now manages Cremonese, a mid-table team in Italy's C2/A (a.k.a. 5th Division). The squad, devoid of all foreign talent due to Italian rules, is languishing in 9th place in the table. The squad plays in the Giovanni Zini stadium with a capacity of 20,500. The club is located the small Italian city of Cremona (metro population: 81,000).
Galderisi was not the crappiest player to ever put on a Revolution kit. He epitomized the European vision of MLS. Players on their last legs come over to America to make a few bucks and play some footy. Beppe made the bucks, but he didn't do much for the Revolution. However, his outgoing, friendly demeanor endeared him to many Revolution fans during his three stays in Foxboro.
